Datum

Datum turns your Instinct into an instrument cluster. Three round gauge dials sit on the left, each a 6-segment ring that fills toward its target with an icon at the center - choose battery, body battery, steps, floors, or active minutes for each one independently. Down the center runs a vertical measurement line: four tick marks and a sliding caliper-style indicator that reads a fourth metric of your choice, with its icon and current value shown above the track. On the right, time is split by ink weight - hours drawn solid, minutes Bayer-dithered - so the two read as distinct at a glance without color. The date lives in the Instinct's built-in subwindow, or swap that secondary screen to show battery, body battery, steps, floors, or active minutes instead. Choose System, 12-hour, or 24-hour time format. Every element is built from native fillPolygon primitives - no bitmap fonts on the gauges, no anti-aliasing, no alpha bitmaps. That is a deliberate choice for the Instinct's transflective MIP panel, which renders 1-bit ink with no blur and no partial coverage. Datum redraws once per minute, caches every font and geometry table at startup, and does no per-frame allocation. Datum is built exclusively for the Instinct family's semi-octagon mono-MIP displays: Instinct 2, Instinct 2S, Instinct 2X, Instinct 3 (45mm and Solar 45/50mm), and Instinct E (40mm and 45mm). Hardware-validated on a physical Instinct 3 (45mm): a soak test confirmed no watchdog interrupts during normal wear, including wrist-raise. Datum has no animation of any kind, so there is no celebration effect and no low-power/AOD path to manage - the Instinct's MIP panel is always on.
