About

Turn every run into a mini adventure. OrbitRun builds a self-guided loop around wherever you are, routing you from one nearby point of interest to the next -- a park, a viewpoint, a cafe, a piece of street art -- before bringing you back to exactly where you started. Pick a distance, start your run, and it handles the rest. How it works: set a target distance and number of stops, and OrbitRun lays out waypoints around a loop -- random start direction, random turn, even stretched into a random oval shape -- so the same start point never sends you the same way twice. It finds a real nearby place for each stop using live OpenStreetMap data, preferring one that's actually reachable on foot. Reach a waypoint and it guides you to the next one, usually already found in the background before you arrive. An unreachable waypoint times out and gets skipped rather than stranding you -- or tap Start/Stop to skip it yourself right away. After the last stop, it guides you straight home and tallies how many stops you found along the way. Choose what you're looking for: parks, water features, viewpoints, artwork, cafes, restaurants, bars, fast food, ice cream, drinking water, benches, historic sites, shops, and more, plus a custom OpenStreetMap tag field for power users. On your wrist: progress through the loop, the current target's name and distance, a give-up countdown, total distance, and average pace, with a compass needle that always points at your next stop. Fully configurable: total distance, stop count, arrival radius, per-waypoint timeout, and a route circuity factor for real streets never running in a straight line. Advanced users can point it at a self-hosted Overpass server. Requires a GPS fix and a Bluetooth connection to Garmin Connect Mobile while looking up places -- once found, following one is pure GPS and doesn't need the phone. A failed or empty lookup falls back to the raw target point rather than blocking your run.

What's new

What's New since v1.0.5 Fixed: the manual "give up on this waypoint" trick (quick Start/Stop tap) could accidentally trigger on any pause — including a real bathroom break or waiting for a friend. It now only fires on a genuinely quick stop/resume; longer pauses are left alone and don't cost you the waypoint. Fixed: the underlying pause detection was watching the wrong timer state (TIMER_STATE_PAUSED, meant for Auto-Pause) instead of the one that actually fires for a manual Start/Stop press (TIMER_STATE_STOPPED), which could make the give-up trigger unreliably. Fixed: the route's starting point is now only anchored once a live GPS fix is available, instead of possibly using a stale last-known location — avoids anchoring the loop to the wrong spot if you start before GPS has caught up. Store listing description updated to describe the manual waypoint-skip and the "found/missed" finish tally. Let me know if you'd like me to pick back up on the store screenshot work afterward.
