Concentration Training

This app helps you train your ability to concentrate. Three games based on scientifically proven tests effectively train executive control, selective attention, and impulse control. Each of these training games has a highscore list. Game 1 (Executive Eontrol) involves memorizing the colors of rising balloons. These must then be entered in reverse order. Regular play can improve the executive control processes of short-term memory, which in turn has a positive effect on concentration. With each round, there is one more balloon. In addition, the speed of the balloons depends on your heart rate. In Game 2 (Selective Attention), a color is named above four color fields. You have to select the color of the text as quickly as possible based on the four color fields, not the color that the text reflects! The challenge is therefore to suppress the dominant stimulus (reading the word) in order to respond to the relevant stimulus (the color). Successfully suppressing the meaning of the word requires executive control. Regular, short training in this interference inhibition leads to a strengthened ability to block out distractions in everyday office life and to control attention in a targeted manner. In Game 3 (Impulse Control), a number is first named, which you should not tap during the game, regardless of its color. If you do tap it, you lose 5 points. This game directly trains impulse control (inhibition), which is a central aspect of the ability to concentrate. The ability to control impulses is essential for focused work. Improvement in this task correlates with increased attention control and helps to inhibit distracting thoughts or the urge to respond to emails. This exercise is therefore ideal as a cognitive quick starter in the morning.
