About

This data field provides a 3D breadcrumb representation of your trail along with a compass. The default settings for this data field shows a breadcrumb trail with elevation data. The trail will orientate itself based on the direction of travel. In addition to the breadcrumb trail a compass is also shown. Using the combination of these allows you to orientation yourself and show you your position in relation to the path travelled. INSTALLATION This data field is designed to fill the screen of your watch. Therefore, you should set the screen to 1 field only. 1) Download and install the data field like any other Garmin Connect IQ application. 2) Edit the settings of the native app. 3) Select [RUN] Settings. 4) Select Data Screens. 5) Choose your screen, [Screen 3]. 6) Select Layout and set it to 1 Field. 7) Select Edit Data Fields and then Connect IQ. 8) Finally select 3D Trail. CONFIGURATION Both the elevation data and the orientation can be configured within the settings for the data field. These can be accessed via Garmin Connect on your mobile or Garmin Express on your computer. Map Orientation The map can either rotate and align itself with your direction of travel or it can be fixed and face north. This is controlled by the Trail Heading setting. When the map is set to North, your orientation, direction and position to the map is then displayed via the red pointer. Elevation Data The elevation data can be switched off/on via the Trail Elevation setting. When ticked it will show the relative height compared to the rest of the trail as a grey bar below the trail. This allows the ascents and descents to be seen on the trail.
