About

An advanced version of my "virtual" Race Pacer data field that allows you to pace a running race or a training target distance against a virtual pacer. This version uses advanced Gradient Adjusted Pacing calculations based on input of the expected route "elevation gain". It also allows the display of the gradient adjusted current pacer pace. The virtual "Pacer" has two key features: 1) Adjusts the required pace for changes in gradient (Gradient Adjusted Pacer), allowing for the specified amount of climbing on the route. So it will pace you slower up a big hill, and faster down...! 2) A "race split" can be configured, for example if you want to run a -ve split running 15 seconds/mile quicker at the finish compared to your target average. The "race split" is a "linear" progression so in this example you would run +15 secs/mile at the start, target average in the middle and -15 secs/mile at the finish, etc.. Usage: 1) Using Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express set the Race Pacer - Advanced App Settings for your desired race distance, target time, "race split", start elevation ("-" for current value), amount of climbing ("-" if unknown), elevation change from Start to Finish, your desired "Required" field display and optionally GAP adjustments. Displays: - Pacer: +/- relative to pacer - Req.: Required average pace to finish to meet target or Current pacer pace (setting) - DstR: Distance remaining - Est.: Estimated finish time based on GAP linear regression (from 600m onwards) - 60sPace: Current pace over last 60 seconds
