BLACKSITE IFF
· v1.4.90
About
Disclaimer: This is more of my own personal project for myself, not necessarily intended for others.
BLACKSITE IFF is a tactical digital watch face built natively for the 280 × 280 memory-in-pixel display on fēnix 8 Solar 51 mm and tactix 8 – 51 mm Solar.
OPERATIONAL DISPLAY
• Tactical digital time with live seconds, fixed date composition, aircraft marker, solar rail, A22 identity, side arcs, weather, atmospheric data, and a six-cell lower LCD rack.
• The lower rack is fixed and consistent: current heart rate with BPM, seven-day resting heart rate with RHR, activity distance with MI/KM, Body Battery with BB, next solar event, and a four-digit zero-padded Days Since counter with D or DSD.
• The third cell always remains activity distance. A valid value is never replaced by steps or STP.
• All six lower values use one coordinated selected data family with measured native-pixel placement.
• Directional wind arrows, the three-vertical-wave humidity mark, respiration, pressure trend, connection stars, and the downward solar cursor retain stable semantic identities.
• Missing or unavailable data keeps its approved icon and displays -- rather than inventing a reading.
CUSTOMIZATION
• The on-watch editor is intentionally limited to Theme for fast, reliable changes on the real watch face.
• Connect IQ Mobile contains the phone-side controls for themes, fonts, Days Since date and label, colors, weaves, time-panel and seven-segment treatment, exterior and grid icons, ticks, solar rail, A22, and four portable custom-theme strings.
• Tactical unit labels are permanent and consistent.
• Main background, lower six-cell LCD panel, and central time panel retain separate component-aware color and weave controls.
• Theme changes use the same canonical property keys as phone settings and do not reset unrelated choices.
RUNTIME
• Ordinary updates repaint one authoritative BLACKSITE frame. Supported seconds work uses a bounded partial region.
• Settings use a compact canonical schema with stable semantic IDs and targeted cache invalidation.
• The actual BLACKSITE face remains the display surface during settings and recoverable data transitions; there is no user-selectable substitute face.
BLACKSITE IFF processes data on the watch and contains no advertising, purchases, analytics, external account, or developer-operated data service. Provider availability and cadence depend on Garmin device, firmware, sensors, permissions, user mode, and cached data. This independent face is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Garmin or any military or government organization.
What's new
1.4.90 - Inactive seconds and heart-rate continuity
Keeps the accepted MIP frame valid when entering low power, removing the extra-full-repaint prerequisite that could block seconds and sleeping heart-rate updates until Garmin provided another full frame. Actual screen-return and wake recovery protections remain.
The minute-boundary callback now shares the same two-second heart-rate polling check as partial updates, fixing the measured three-second HR gap when a poll fell on second zero.
Fonts, font sizes, layout, icons, textures, all six permanent theme defaults, saved settings, and existing source refresh intervals are unchanged.
