About

Carb Master — Real-Time Fueling for Cyclists Stop guessing when to eat. Carb Master tracks the gap between your actual carb intake and your hourly goal in real time, so you fuel by the math instead of by feel — and arrive at the climb fed instead of cracked. Companion app: https://www.carbmaster.fit How it works Set your hourly carb goal (e.g. 90 g/hr). Carb Master computes a running "debt" — how many grams behind goal you are right now. Tap the field to log a gel, bottle, bar, or chew, and the debt drops on the screen. When debt crosses your configurable threshold, Carb Master alerts you: a full-screen overlay visible from any data page, audible beeps, and a vibration. Features • Up to 4 custom fueling items. Free-form name + carb value per slot ("Gel" 30g, "Bottle" 60g, "Bar" 40g, "Chews" 25g — whatever you carry). Empty slots are hidden; the field auto-resizes its rows to use the available space. • One-tap logging. Tap a row to log one of that item. Double-tap the same row within 400ms to undo the most recent entry — perfect for handlebar-bump mistakes. • Three-cell status row. Total grams consumed, current delta vs goal (positive = ahead, negative = behind), and your live average g/hr. The status row glows green when you're on track and red when you've crossed the alert threshold — so even after dismissing an alert you can see your status at a glance. • Preload baseline. Configure how many carbs you're starting with (pre-ride bottle, breakfast). Debt starts from your real state, not zero. • Configurable alert threshold. Set the deficit at which you want to be notified — independent of what items you carry. Default 30g ("alert me when I'm a gel behind"); tune tighter for racing, looser for long endurance training, 0 to disable alerts entirely. • Configurable alert beeps. 0 to 5 audible tones per alert (default 3). The visual overlay and vibration always fire; tones are tunable for group-ride etiquette. • Smart escalating alerts — no spam. First alert when you cross threshold; subsequent alerts only when you fall another full threshold-unit further behind. A rider who's ignoring the alert doesn't get pestered every two minutes; one who keeps falling behind gets escalating attention. • Cross-screen visibility. The "FUEL: Xg" overlay appears regardless of which page you're on — map, ClimbPro, navigation, custom data screen — because tones and visuals route through the system alert channel. • Pause-aware. Carb debt accumulates through both auto-pause and manual pause. Your metabolism doesn't care that you're stopped at a red light. • Rich post-ride analytics in Garmin Connect. Six FIT developer fields recorded: – Total carbs consumed (session) – Average grams per hour (session) – Cumulative carb intake over time (1 Hz, charted in green) – Real-time carb debt over time (1 Hz, charted in orange) – Per-lap total carbs – Per-lap average grams per hour Review your fueling alongside power, heart rate, and elevation — and dig into individual lap fueling for interval and structured workouts. • Locked during the ride. Settings can't be changed mid-activity. Configure before you press Start; the rules stay consistent for the whole session. • Cycling-focused. Available in cycling profiles (Road, MTB, Gravel, Indoor, eBike) on supported Edge models. Compatibility Edge 830, 840, 1030, 1040, 1050. Touchscreen required for intake logging. Renders in 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-field layouts. Setup checklist 1. Add Carb Master to a data screen on your cycling profile. 2. Important: enable alerts under Menu → Activity Profiles → [your profile] → Alerts → Add New → Connect IQ → Carb Master. Without this, the visual overlay won't appear. 3. Open Carb Master settings (in the Connect IQ mobile app or on-device) to configure your hourly goal, alert threshold, beeps, preload, and item slots. Ride, eat, repeat.
