About
Disclaimers:
- CGM App is not intended to serve as or to replace the real-time display of CGM data of the primary device or standard blood glucose home monitoring. All therapeutic decisions, including those regarding calculating insulin or other drug dosages, should be based on blood glucose measurements obtained from a blood glucose meter and not on data from the CGM App.
- The CGM app is not intended to analyze, interpret, or modify the CGM data received from the primary device.
- The CGM App is not intended to replace self-monitoring practices as advised by a physician.
(Note: the wording, "a blood glucose meter", is from Garmin directly - In my opinion I believe they meant to say "approved therapeutic device" instead.)
Watchface that uses ConnectIQ 2 background API to fetch CGM data from your personal Nightscout site, and/or local xDrip+ (or compatible local web service), or OpenAPS rig.
NOTE: This app is no longer being updated (except to add tiny-memory devices that cannot be supported by the new app.) The updated version should be preferred if compatible: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/2a6da9b4-af1a-41d9-8586-5022ce7c6c3b
THIS APP MUST NOT BE USED TO MAKE MEDICAL DECISIONS.
There is no warranty for this program.
This app is not supported or endorsed by Dexcom, Abbott, Libre, Medtronic, Nightscout, or any other party.
Requirements:
- Requires a Nightscout site, or xDrip+, or OpenAPS.
- Set URL and other watch app settings in the phone's Connect IQ app., device application settings.
- No watchface settings are required for xDrip+, but you must enable the phone's xDrip+ inter-app web services option.
- The Connect IQ app on your phone must stay active and able to use data in the background - there are usually system settings on your phone that allow that, for both battery and mobile data.
- Must have watch setting for "Time Source" set to "Auto" (and not "Manual"), to ensure the watchface can sync up properly to the CGM data.
- If using mmol units with Nightscout, make sure your site's configuration variable DISPLAY_UNITS is set to mmol (and not mmol/L).

Info:

What's new
NOTICE (July 2020): The Fenix 6 has been reported to not work properly with Connect IQ apps using the background API. Please refer to the Garmin forum bug report: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/i/bug-reports/fenix-6-with-background-app-watchface-doesn-t-update
NOTICE (Nov. 2019): Firmware for the Vivoactive 3 (7.0) and Vivoactive 3 Music (5.20) breaks internet data within watchfaces. Newer firmware has been released to fix this issue. See https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/i/bug-reports/makewebrequest-stopped-working-on-vivoactive-3-firmware-7-00.
NOTICE (Oct. 2019): With the recent Vivoactive 3 firmware update (6.9 for VA3, 4.9 for VA3M, and I believe 3.8 for VA3LTE), Garmin has introduced a battery drain issue. It is discussed in numerous forum threads, but no word from Garmin on a fix yet: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/i/bug-reports/va3m-battery-usage-halved-with-firmware-4-9
NOTICE (Oct. 2019): Spike may have problems with the local web service as well as uploading to Nightscout in the latest iOS release, 13.1.2. https://www.facebook.com/groups/spikeapp/permalink/2419180818402648/
NOTICE (Sept. 2019): iOS Garmin Connect recently had a settings bug, it is fixed if you update Connect to version 4.22.2: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/b/news-announcements/posts/garmin-connect-ios-app-settings-fixed-in-4-22-2-hotfix-release
NOTICE (June 2019): Android Garmin Connect 4.20 thru 4.21.1 broke support for http requests, which is required by xDrip+ and Spike local web services. Connect 4.22 is the latest version that works properly. Refer to https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/i/bug-reports/connect-version-4-20-broke-local-http-access
NOTICE for Forerunner 45 (May 2019): Unfortunately it is not possible to have a connect IQ watchface that accesses the internet on the new Forerunner 45. That is because Garmin chose to make it so, by using an old version of connect IQ on the watch which doesn't have the internet APIs, and by restricting it to watchfaces only. In my opinion it is not correct to say that watch has connect IQ at all, since it does so very little of the connect IQ functionality.
