Distance Predictor

If you regularly run, walk or cycle for a fixed time from point A to point B and then return, this data field will predict your total distance when you finish. It uses your average pace since the start, to predict the distance travelled at the end of your exercise. This can be useful since the default Garmin pace datafield shows your current pace, and not the average pace during an activity. It makes it easier to keep you on track to reach a distance and average pace goal with a fixed duration of exercise. Just set your total time and add the datafield to your activity and you are ready to go. Optionally set an alarm time (usually at the half-time point) when the watch will vibrate to tell you when to turn around. The watch will also vibrate when the total time is reached indicating the end of your run, walk or cycle. The units will be in km or miles depending on the distance units setting in your Garmin watch System settings. After the total planned run time has elapsed you can choose to display either 1) the current elapsed distance, or 2) the elapsed distance at the end of the total planned run time. In either case the value will be shown in square brackets [ ] indicating the planned run time has been exceeded.
