About

The Australia UV Live app gives you access to the live UV Index for major cities across Australia. __________________________________________ Unlike most weather apps on Garmin, Australia UV Live displays the actual measured UV Index — directly from the Australia Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) — available at https://www.arpansa.gov.au/our-services/monitoring/ultraviolet-radiation-monitoring/ultraviolet-radiation-index. The main benefit of the app is to provide the live UV index. However, the app also stores one day's worth of forecasted data locally, which you can view even without an internet connection. This requires you to open the app at least once while connected to your phone to download the data for that day. Please note that forecast data is significantly less reliable than live data. You will know when forecasted data is being displayed by the `(F)` indicator, as well as the UV index triangle being outlined instead of filled in. There are three pages in the app, displaying different information which you can scroll through by either using the physical "Up" and "Down" buttons or by swiping up and down on the touchscreen. __________________________________________ 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 ACT: Canberra NSW: Sydney, Newcastle NT: Darwin, Alice Springs QLD: Brisbane, Gold Coast, Townsville, Emerald SA: Adelaide TAS: Kingston VIC: Melbourne WA: Perth __________________________________________ 𝙇𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘿𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 Australia UV Live offers three different ways to determine your location: 1͟.͟ ͟U͟s͟e͟ ͟t͟h͟e͟ ͟s͟a͟m͟e͟ ͟l͟o͟c͟a͟t͟i͟o͟n͟ ͟a͟s͟ ͟t͟h͟e͟ ͟b͟u͟i͟l͟t͟-͟i͟n͟ ͟G͟a͟r͟m͟i͟n͟ ͟W͟e͟a͟t͟h͟e͟r͟ ͟a͟p͟p͟ This option retrieves uses the same location that the inbuilt Garmin weather app is using (usually retrieved from your phone's GPS location). Only available on devices with API level 3.2.0 or higher. 2͟.͟ ͟U͟s͟e͟ ͟D͟e͟v͟i͟c͟e͟ ͟G͟P͟S͟ ͟l͟o͟c͟a͟t͟i͟o͟n͟ This option uses the location from your device's GPS. Generally, this will be the last known GPS location. If the app is unable to retrieve GPS coordinates, it will fall back to option 3. If the app is using the incorrect location, try starting an activity that uses GPS and then re-opening the app. 3͟.͟ ͟U͟s͟e͟ ͟t͟h͟e͟ ͟l͟o͟c͟a͟t͟i͟o͟n͟ ͟o͟f͟ ͟a͟ ͟f͟i͟x͟e͟d͟ ͟c͟i͟t͟y͟ ͟s͟e͟l͟e͟c͟t͟e͟d͟ ͟i͟n͟ ͟a͟p͟p͟ ͟s͟e͟t͟t͟i͟n͟g͟s͟ This option lets you manually choose a city from the supported list in the app settings. It is also used as a fallback if your selected method is unavailable. NOTE: Your chosen location method is only used when you are online. Offline data will always be for the last successfully retrieved city. __________________________________________ Some features may require a particular API level — you can check your device's API level on your device or on this page: https://developer.garmin.com/connect-iq/compatible-devices/ __________________________________________ Don't forget to always stay sun safe by following Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek & Slide https://www.cancer.org.au/cancer-information/causes-and-prevention/sun-safety/campaigns-and-events/slip-slop-slap-seek-slide
