Australia UV Live

The Australia UV Live app gives you access to the live UV Index for major cities across Australia. ──────────────────── Australia UV Live displays the actual measured UV Index — directly from the Australia Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA). The main benefit of the app is to provide the live UV index. However, the app also stores one day's worth of forecasted data locally, which you can view even without an internet connection. This requires you to open the app at least once while connected to your phone to download the data for that day. Please note that forecast data is significantly less reliable than live data. You will know when forecasted data is being displayed by an `(F)` being shown, as well as the pointer being outlined instead of filled in. There are three pages in the app, which you can scroll through by either using the physical "Up" and "Down" buttons or by swiping up and down on the touchscreen. ──────────────────── --- Supported Cities --- ACT: Canberra NSW: Sydney, Newcastle NT: Darwin, Alice Springs QLD: Brisbane, Gold Coast, Townsville, Emerald SA: Adelaide TAS: Kingston VIC: Melbourne WA: Perth ──────────────────── --- Location Detection --- 1. Use the same location as the built-in Garmin Weather app This option retrieves uses the same location that the inbuilt Garmin weather app is using (usually retrieved from your phone's GPS location). Only available on devices with API level 3.2.0 or higher. — 2. Use Device GPS This option uses the location from your device's GPS. Generally, this will be the last known GPS location. If the app is unable to retrieve GPS coordinates, it will fall back to option 3. If the app is using the incorrect location, try starting an activity that uses GPS and then re-opening the app. — 3. Use the location of a fixed city selected in app settings This option lets you manually choose a city from the supported list in the app settings. It is also used as a fallback if your selected method is unavailable. NOTE: Your chosen location method is only used when you are online. Offline data will always be for the last successfully retrieved city. ──────────────────── --- Error Messages --- "Phone connection required" – Make sure your phone is connected to the internet and that your device is connected to your phone. "ARPANSA server is down" – This means that the ARPANSA server could not be reached. I don't have any control over the ARPANSA server, so there is nothing I can do to fix this when it happens. "No data available" – Data may not be available before 6 a.m. local time. Try again after 6 a.m. "Internal server error" – Something went wrong on my server. If you encounter any other errors, please use the 'Contact Developer' button on Connect IQ to let me know of the issue. ──────────────────── --- Privacy Notice --- The app does not connect directly to ARPANSA servers, all requests go through my own custom-built proxy running on Vercel. No personal information is intentionally stored by me. When the app obtains your GPS location, the coordinates are rounded by the app before they are sent to the server. This removes the precision of the original GPS location and provides only an approximate location.
