Rain Radar — will it rain, in how long, and for how long Five screens, no menus. Press down to go through them. 1. SUMMARY — temperature and one sentence: raining now, rain in 18 minutes, or nothing for the next 90. 2. NEXT 90 MINUTES — five-minute steps, so you can see the gap between showers rather than guess at it. 3. HOURLY — the next two days: temperature, chance of rain, wind, humidity, cloud, UV. Open any hour for the detail. 4. RADAR — the actual precipitation map, with the coastline drawn so you can tell where the cloud is. It plays itself forward once on opening, and you can scrub two hours ahead or an hour back. 5. AIR — air quality, UV index, dew point and humidity. WHAT IT ACTUALLY KNOWS The nowcast and the radar map are measured, not modelled: minute-by-minute precipitation from weather radar, and real forecast frames every ten minutes. Where there is no radar, the app says so instead of inventing a dry afternoon. "No radar here" and "radar unavailable" are different sentences on purpose — one is about the place, the other about the minute. Radar coverage comes from Rainbow's fused radar-and-satellite pipeline — one- kilometre resolution, refreshed every ten minutes — and it is wide, though not everywhere. Across Europe it follows the continental radar composite: London, Dublin, Paris, Madrid, Lisbon, Rome, Berlin, Warsaw, Vienna, Stockholm, Oslo, Helsinki, and the western Balkans down to Zagreb, Belgrade, Bucharest and Sofia, with Saint Petersburg and Kaliningrad at the Russian edge. The Americas are covered end to end in the north — New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Mexico City — and in Brazil, from Sao Paulo. In Asia it reaches Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong, and across South-East Asia: Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Manila, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Australia and New Zealand are covered throughout — Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Auckland. Where the radar does not reach, the app says so rather than inventing weather, and the gaps are worth knowing before you lean on it: mainland China, India, the Middle East, Central Asia (Almaty and Tashkent included), most of Africa, the Andes and southern South America, and the interior of Russia along with Turkey, Greece, Ukraine and the Caucasus. The hourly forecast and the air screen work everywhere, radar or no radar: they come from your watch's own weather and from a separate global source. BATTERY Nothing runs in the background. No timers, no background service, no GPS wake — the app only does anything while it is on the screen, and the last known position is read from what the watch already has. It may not stay free forever, but it is now. It touches the network only for the forecast and the radar map — never in the background — and no reading of yours leaves the watch.
