Run and Walk
· v02.00.033
About
This data field counts down the time or distance set in the Connect IQ App for alternating run and walk intervals to zero.
Time and distance can be combined as desired for the running and walking intervals, e.g.
- 3:00 minutes running and then 20 seconds walking
- 600 meters running and then 30 seconds walking
- 3:30 minutes running and then 50 meters walking
- 750 meters running and then 100 meters walking
The remaining time or distance is displayed graphically via a decreasing progress bar.
From version 02.00.031, the distance is entered and displayed either in kilometres or miles. This depends on the system setting (System - Units - Distance).
Input:
- Run Unit: Select time or distance
- If time is selected:
- Enter the minutes in the field: ‘Running interval: minutes or km or miles’
- In the field; ‘Running interval: seconds or meter or (mile/1000)' enter the seconds
- If distance is selected:
- If system setting = kilometres:
- In the field: ‘Running interval: minutes or km or miles’ enter the kilometres
- In the field; ‘Running interval: seconds or meter or (mile/1000)' enter the metres
- If system setting = miles:
- In the field: ‘Running interval: minutes or km or miles’ enter the miles
- In the field; ‘Running interval: seconds or meter or (mile/1000)' enter the miles/1000 (e.g. 500 = half a mile, 250 = a quarter of a mile)
Enter the walking interval correspondingly.
The following can be set via the Connect IQ App:
General:
- The width and direction of the progress bar
- Display of the heart rate in the current heart rate zone
- Start first running interval immediately or only after warmup
- End the interval by reaching the cooldown or continue
- Select whether to start with running or walking interval
- Pressing the STOP button stops the timer. If "Resume" is selected, you can either continue with the current interval or the current interval is ended immediately and the next interval starts. For example, the running interval can be paused or you can switch to the next walking interval without having completely finished the current running interval. Only run and walk intervals can be ended prematurely, warm-up and cool-down can only be paused and continued.
- Sound and vibration signal at the end of an interval
- Sound and vibration signal every 25% of an interval
- Display every 25% and at the end of each interval: In relation to the current interval type (running/walking), the average pace of all previous intervals or the currently active interval can be displayed.. It is also possible to simply count down the time or distance to "0".
- Save average pace for running and walking intervals in the FIT file.
- Save the percentage of running intervals in relation to the total time / total distance in the FIT file.
- Save data for a graph (Garmin Connect) with run and walk intervals in the FIT file. On its own, this graph doesn't make much sense, but you can combine it well with other graphs (e.g. pace or heart rate).
for the running or walking section:
- the duration or distance
- random deviation (+/- per cent) of the duration / distance
- the color of the progress bar
With the layout "1 field and 2 fields" the heart rate within the current heart rate zone can be displayed additionally. The color of the arrow corresponds to that of the heart rate zone. Access to the fitness profile is required for this.
Access to the activity data is required for saving the data for the average pace and the graph of the running and walking intervals.
Info: Not all options are available for every device.

!! 16.4.2024:
Important note:
A system error (IQ symbol) occurs on some devices (presumably with firmware 16.22). This problem is known to Garmin and is already being discussed in the developer forum. Unfortunately, I cannot offer a solution at this time.
!! 8.4.2024:
Important note:
Unfortunately, the data field now requires more than 64kByte memory and therefore no longer works on the Forerunner® 645 Music. I will try to make the data field available again for the Forerunner® 645 Music - possibly with reduced functionality. The other devices should have more than 64kByte memory for data fields.
Sorry about that.
(Update 23.4.2024: Should be fixed with version 02.00.023)
02.00.021:
