About

Know exactly which city, town, or neighborhood you are riding through in real-time, right on your Garmin Edge screen! "Bike City" is a lightweight, responsive, and completely free Garmin Connect IQ Data Field designed specifically for the Garmin Edge series (including the 1050, 1040, 840, 540, and Explore 2). It uses the open-source OpenStreetMap geocoding API to resolve your current GPS coordinates to localized names without requiring any account setup, subscriptions, or API keys. === FEATURES === Real-Time Location: Displays the name of the current city, town, village, or suburb. Smart Countryside Fallback: In rural or remote areas, it falls back to the municipality or historical county name (e.g. sveitarfélag or sýsla in Iceland) so you always know where you are. Battery & Data Friendly: It only sends a web request when you move more than 500 meters from your last lookup, with a 30-second cooldown. It goes completely idle when you are stopped. Dark & Light Modes: Automatically adapts to your active system background color for optimal visibility. Dynamic Sizing: Adapts text size automatically to fit any layout size you configure on your training screen (from 1 large field to a multi-grid page). === HOW TO USE === Add the "Bike City" data field to your active profile page settings on your compatible Edge device. Connect your Edge to your phone via Bluetooth (requires the Garmin Connect app running in the background for internet access). Go ride! The field will automatically load and refresh your location as you cross boundaries.
