About

TMI is a complex data field designed to eliminate the need to scroll through multiple data screens. Initially created by the developer for use while inline skating, it can also be used for other activities such as cycling and running. If you don’t like small print or only want to see a few key data metrics, then TMI is not for you. Having said that, if you’re an athlete who appreciates the benefits of wearing a Garmin device on your wrist and have an affinity for “more data!” then you may want to give TMI a try. Primary Metrics ---Activity Time and Distance ---Current, Average and Maximum Speed (or Pace) and Heartrate ---Current, Average and Maximum Cadence or Ascent Ratio (Ascent/Distance) ---Cumulative Ascent and Current Elevation relative to activity start ---Heartrate Zone: Based on user-defined maximum, or auto-zones based on activity ---Current Time-of-Day, GPS Status, Battery State-of-Charge and Estimated Runtime ---Current Heartrate trend (rising/falling) and most recent (low/high) Heartrate Navigation Awareness Metrics (Experimental): ---Distance-To and Estimated-Time-To Finish (when navigation is active) ---Distance-To and Name-Of Next Turn (when turn-by-turn navigation is active) ---Distance Off Course (when course navigation is active) Various features can be configured in any of the following ways: ---Using Garmin Express on your computer ---Using Garmin ConnectIQ Mobile on your mobile device ---Directly on your Garmin watch (when you don’t have access to a computer or mobile device) Installation: Download TMI to your Garmin device. Then add a new data screen to your chosen activity and set the layout to one (1) field. Next select TMI from the Connect IQ fields. Note: The total number of Connect IQ data fields that can be used in a specific activity is limited, typically two per activity. If you are already using the maximum number, then you will need to remove one before you can add TMI. Settings Configuration: This is most easily done using Garmin Express on your computer or Gamin ConnectIQ on your mobile device. However, if you have a need to change settings when you don’t have access to anything other than your Garmin device it is possible. Note that Garmin does not provide for making such changes on the device. However, TMI detects temporary changes to the User Profile (User Height and Weight) to accomplish needed changes. Basic instructions may appear (for 30 seconds or until you start the activity timer) each time you start an activity that uses TMI, or set your User Profile Height to 4' 0" and return to the TMI screen in an activity to see instructions.
