Passed Note — Handwritten Class Note Watch Face

Passed Note turns your watch into a note somebody slipped you in class. The screen is a scrap of lined notebook filler paper — light-blue rules, a red margin line, punch holes hugging the left curve — and everything on it is handwritten in a different kid's handwriting: blue and black ballpoint, with the occasional red gel pen. Every line of writing sits right on the notebook rules, like the real thing. FEATURES & DETAILS • FOUR REAL HANDWRITINGS: The date is printed neatly in black pen, the time is written HUGE in loopy script with an emphatic squiggle underline, the stats are quick scrawl and someone else's cursive — four genuine handwriting typefaces, baked into crisp bitmap fonts sized for your exact screen. • DOODLED LIVE WEATHER: Between the date and the time, the day's weather is sketched in pen strokes — a sun, sun-behind-cloud, cloud, rain, snowflake, or a storm cloud with a red lightning bolt — matching the live conditions, with the temperature beside it and the condition word ("sorta sunny", "rainy", "storms!") in blue cursive underneath. • YOUR STATS, WRITTEN LIKE NOTES: Steps in a quick black scrawl with your heart rate doodled in red beside a little heart; device battery in blue cursive next to your Body Battery ("energy: 87%"); calories and your phone's notification count ("3 msgs!") squeezed onto the last rule. • NOTEBOOK PAPER, DRAWN FOR YOUR SCREEN: The paper, rules, margin, punch holes, squiggles, and doodles are all drawn procedurally and scaled to your panel — no stretched bitmaps, crisp on every case size. • GRACEFUL WHEN DATA IS MISSING: Weather, Body Battery, and heart rate hide cleanly when your watch has no data — the note just gets a little shorter. PICK YOUR PEN & PAPER (SETTINGS) • Time Pen — was the time written in blue ballpoint, black ballpoint, or red gel pen? • Paper — classic white notebook filler paper, or a yellow legal pad. • Show Weather — toggle the doodled weather block. • Show Heart Rate — toggle the heart doodle and pulse. ALWAYS-ON FRIENDLY On AMOLED watches the always-on display switches to a burn-in-safe page — a black screen with just the time in dim ink, nudged a few pixels each minute. MIP / Solar panels always show the full note. PRIVACY Passed Note uses only the SensorHistory permission to read Body Battery. It does not collect or transmit any data off your watch. Monochrome MIP Instincts and square/rectangular panels are not supported — white paper with blue and black ink needs a round colour display.

[1.4.0] - 2026-08-01 Added - **Pick what the note says.** The four rules below the time now carry two configurable slots each, and every one of the eight picks from sixteen metrics: steps, heart rate, calories, **distance**, **floors climbed**, **active minutes**, **step goal %**, Body Battery, **stress**, **respiration**, battery %, **battery days**, notifications, **alarms**, **altitude**, or nothing. A slot the watch can't measure behaves as empty. - **A pen for every field.** Each slot also chooses its own pen, so the note can be written in any mixture you like. Left on `Automatic` a field keeps the pen its category has always used, which is what makes the stock arrangement read as one kid's handwriting. - **Two more pens** — green and purple — available to the fields and to the **Time Pen**. Like the existing three they follow the paper: a ballpoint on filler paper, a neon gel pen on the dark page, and a dimmed version on the AMOLED always-on screen. Fixed - **Handwriting sits on the rules again on every panel.** Text baselines were scaled from 454-base coordinates while the rules themselves were drawn at multiples of the scaled rule spacing. The two agree only on a 454px screen; everywhere else integer division rounded them apart and the writing drifted off its rule, by up to 7px at the bottom of a 390px panel. Baselines are now derived from the same grid the rules are drawn on. - **Tall and tailed letters are no longer clipped.** Ink Free draws its ascenders and descenders outside the nominal font metrics, so `gen_fonts.py` emitted glyphs with negative `yoffset` and Connect IQ clipped whatever fell outside the line box — shaving the top off letters like the `f` in "floors" and the tail off the `g` in "energy". The generator now gives the line box enough headroom for the actual ink and shifts the glyphs to match. Only the body font was affected; the atlases are unchanged, and `ASC_BODY` moves to 0.707 to match the new metrics. Changed - The `Show Steps` / `Show Heart Rate` / `Show Calories` / `Show Battery` / `Show Notifications` / `Show Body Battery` toggles from 1.3.0 are **replaced** by the `— nothing —` option on each slot, which does the same job with more control. `Show Date` and `Show Weather` stay, since those sit on their own rules above the time. Anyone who had customized the 1.3.0 toggles gets the default arrangement back. - A pair of fields that won't fit a rule is written in the smaller hand, and if it still won't fit the right-hand field is left off rather than written as an unreadable bare value. Changed - The four lines below the time now take the notebook rules from the top down instead of each being pinned to a fixed rule, so hiding a field closes the gap rather than leaving a blank rule in the middle of the note. Lines only ever move up, so nothing lands on the short last rule that wasn't already headed there. - Steps and heart rate share a rule, as do battery and notifications. With either half switched off, the other is centered on the rule by itself rather than sitting where the pair used to start.
