Bike Efficiency: Real-Time Bike Comparison
· v1.0.0
About
Ever felt a test bike was faster or easier to climb with, but wished you could prove it?
Bike Efficiency Analyzer combines Garmin GPS speed, heart rate data, and weather metrics to visualize and compare the true propulsion efficiency of different bikes.
* What and How It Measures
Simply ride with your Garmin Edge and heart rate monitor, and the app calculates key metrics in real time:
[Flat Road Efficiency]
Measures speed relative to your heart rate to evaluate frame aerodynamics and rolling resistance.
[Climbing and Acceleration]
Analyzes response on slopes above 6% and acceleration bursts to evaluate frame stiffness and power transfer.
[Comfort and Fatigue Resistance]
Monitors heart rate drift over time to quantify shock absorption and long-distance comfort.
[Cardiac Cost Efficiency]
Calculates speed gained per heart beat to measure cardiovascular energy savings.
[Rough Road Stability]
Detects speed micro-variations over bumps to measure traction and frame compliance.
* Automatic Weather Normalization
Windy or hot test days will not distort your results. The app automatically adjusts for wind speed, direction, temperature, and elevation to ensure fair comparisons.
* How to Use It
[Build Your Baseline on Daily Rides]
Ride normally in My Bike mode. The app automatically gathers data to build an accurate baseline for your main bike.
[Compare Bikes at Test Events]
Switch bikes and tap the large button once. Instantly compare speed, climbing, and comfort against your baseline using a 5-axis radar chart.
[Save Rides with Tags]
Save test rides with color and type tags such as aero or lightweight. Review detailed comparison scores later in Garmin Connect.
* Supported Sensors
- Required: GPS and Heart Rate Monitor
- Optional: Power Meter
