Dictionary

This widget is a English/French/Spanish dictionary with translation. It is using data from https://www.wiktionary.org/ under both the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License (CC-BY-SA) and the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). The dictionary provided in this widget contains over 30,000 English words, over 25,000 French words and over 7,000 Spanish words with definitions and translations between these three languages. Note that the dataset is not perfect and some definitions and translations may be incorrect or have typos. Feel free to reach out directly to report major definition or spelling errors. Please note that too many searches in a row without closing the app may cause the app/watch to crash. This is because the connect iq virtual machine memory management system has an issue managing the memory over time. If the firmware changes and improves I will release new versions to help reduce issues with crashing over time. Some key features and notes: - Available words starting with letters entered show up below the entry. - The keyboard entry is tailored for each language. Already entered characters will be reset when switching between languages - There is a lot of data stored in this widget. It does take some time to load the data as characters are entered. A little "loading ..." overlay is showed when new blocks of words need to be loaded. It can take a few seconds to load new blocks and this is normal. It is best to refrain from tapping the screen during loading of new blocks of words as the taps will be registered all at once after the loading is complete. - The glance view displays the last word viewed for definition and translation The dictionary can be controlled fully by touch or fully with the buttons, which is convenient when touch mode is disabled, or a combination. Touch control: - Tap the group of letters for an accessible letter selection. Tap the side or outside the group to hide it back. - Tap the back arrow to remove a character from the search word. - Tap the language text to toggle between the three languages. Note that this will reset the search in progress - Tap any of the proposed words to access its definition and translation. A new screen will popup. Drag to scroll up or down and see all definitions and translations. Swipe back to return to the search screen - Swipe back to exit the widget and return back to the glance Button control: - Push the up or down buttons to toggle through the letters. The selected letter will highlight in purple. Use the select button to enter the character selected. - Push the up and down buttons until the back arrow is selected (turns purple). Use the Select button to remove a character. - Push the up and down buttons until the language is selected (turns purple). Use the Select button to toggle between languages - Push the up and down buttons until proposed words are selected (turn purple). Use the Select button to view the definition(s) and translation(s) for the selected word. When in the word detail screen, use the up and down button to scroll up or down and the back button to return to the search screen. - Push the back back button will exit button mode if any items are selected in purple or will exit the widget and return to the glance otherwise There are no settings for this widget, however the default language will be selected based on the watch language setting if it is french or Spanish. NOTE WHEN UPDATING: The widget is quite large at 10MB and most watches do not have enough space to update the app while installed (storage for apps is limited from ~15MB to ~20MB). If this is the case (you get a memory full when trying to update using the update feature), just un-install the app first and then re-install it. You will only lose the last search saved.
