AirDust: Air Quality, UV & Pollen
· v5.6.98
About
AirDust: your personal Air Quality, UV & Pollen tracker — live data on your wrist.
The FREE version reads live air quality from the community-run Sensor.Community network — real sensors that hobbyists host on their balconies and gardens, searched within about 2 km of your location. No account, no sign-up.
FREE — FOREVER
• Live PM2.5, PM10 & Air Quality Index (AQI) from nearby Sensor.Community sensors
• Nearby sensor lookup (~2 km search)
• Fast quick-glance view
• AQI Legend & About screens
• Official EPA-2024 air-quality scale
PRO — OPTIONAL €5 ONE-TIME (covers backend & data costs, keeps the free tier alive)
Everything in Free, PLUS it works ANYWHERE — even where no community sensor is nearby — because Pro uses our backend, which layers several sources:
• Air quality: Sensor.Community first, then OpenAQ reference stations (within 25 km), then a Google modeled estimate as a last resort. The number shown is the outlier-filtered AVERAGE of all live sensors within your radius — not a single station.
• Pollen forecasts — Tree, Grass, Weed (Google Pollen, 5-day)
• UV Index, peak time & 3-day forecast
• Temperature & humidity — from nearby sensors, or weather providers where none report
• Hourly air & weather forecast (up to 6h)
• Historical trend charts
• Altitude advisory — warns when your elevation differs from the sensors feeding your reading
• Custom Pollen/UV alerts with thresholds
• PM-vs-limit reference screen
Free and Pro use the SAME EPA-2024 scoring — Pro just reaches more data sources.
THE MENU (press MENU)
• Location — your spot or a Saved Location
• Sensor List — nearby sensors
• Legend / About / Exit
Pro adds: History, Pollen & UV Alerts, PM Limits, Alert Toggles, and App Mode (run the widget as Pro or Free without removing your key).
SEEING "NO SENSORS NEARBY"? (Free)
Free needs a real community sensor within ~2 km, and coverage varies a lot — some areas simply have none. A Saved Location only helps if there ARE sensors near those exact coordinates; pointing it at an empty area still shows nothing. To try:
• On the watch: MENU → Location → Saved Location 1
• In Garmin Connect: AirDust → Settings → Locations → "Saved Location 1:" → enter coordinates as 42.123456,23.123456
• See where sensors actually exist at maps.sensor.community
If your area has no community sensors at all, Pro is the way to get a reading anywhere.
UPGRADE TO PRO
Visit https://airdust.safescanapp.app on your phone or computer, pay €5 (secure, one-time), get your code instantly, and paste it into AirDust Settings in the Garmin Connect app.
YOUR PRO KEY IS SAFE
Your key is tied to your watch, not the install. If you reinstall or update AirDust, Pro comes back automatically once your watch syncs with your phone — nothing to re-buy or re-enter. (A key works on one watch at a time.)
UPDATES & SETTINGS (a Garmin quirk)
Garmin doesn't always download the newest version or your settings automatically. If AirDust looks outdated or a setting won't apply:
• Garmin Connect (phone) → Connect IQ Store → My Apps → AirDust → Update (or reinstall — your Pro key is safe)
• Keep your watch connected & synced over Bluetooth
• After updating, re-open AirDust Settings and Save again
• Desktop: Garmin Express → device → Connect IQ Apps → Update
Your version shows on the About screen.
Data: Sensor.Community (ODbL), OpenAQ contributors (commercial-use only), GeoNames (CC BY 4.0), Google, WeatherAPI.com.
What's new
AirDust has been rebuilt from the ground up.
• Faster, more reliable readings via a new dedicated air-quality backend
• New glance view and a cleaner, redesigned interface
• Much wider device support
• The core PM2.5 / PM10 / AQI display stays free for everyone
New optional Pro upgrade adds pollen forecasts, UV index, temperature & humidity, history charts, AQI scales, themes, and alerts — buying it helps cover running costs and keep AirDust free.
What's new in AirDust 5.6.98
A big reliability update — plus a couple of genuinely new features.
NEW
• App Mode (Pro): switch the widget between the Pro and Free view right on your watch — MENU → App Mode — without ever removing your activation code. New Pro activations start in Pro.
• Turn pollen and UV alerts on or off directly on the watch — MENU → Alert Toggles.
IMPROVED
• Air-quality scoring updated to the latest 2024 EPA standard, so hazardous air is rated more accurately (Pro).
FIXED
• Pollen and UV alerts now actually fire — you get a buzz and an on-screen alert when levels are high (before, they could stay silent even when enabled). (on open as widget needs to be on screen)
• The Pro menu now includes History, Pollen Alerts, UV Alerts and PM Limits — these could be missing before.
• Missing or incomplete data no longer shows a misleading "Good" — it now reads as unknown, so you're never told the air is safe when it isn't.
• You can now open the menu from the "no sensors nearby" screen.
• Offline or phone connection dropped? The widget now says "No data — check phone" instead of "Service unavailable."
• The loading indicator no longer looks frozen, and there's no brief flash of old data when the widget refreshes.
A note on updates: Garmin doesn't always download the newest version automatically. If AirDust looks outdated, open Garmin Connect → Connect IQ Store → My Apps → AirDust → Update (your Pro key is safe — it's tied to your watch). Your version shows on the About screen.
Thanks for using AirDust!
