The Dragon and The Fairy

The legend of Lac Long Quan and Au Co is a well-known folklore in Vietnam, telling a story about Lac Long Quan, a descendant of the Water Dragon who married a beautiful fairy named Au Co. After having 100 children, Lac Long Quan always found himself longing for the ocean and Au Co yearned to live in the mountain. They finally decided to live separately and divide their children fairly into two groups of fifty. After that, they made a promise that despite the separation, they would always take care of each other and lend a hand should the other one be in need. The children of Lac Long Quan and Au Co are believed to be the ancestors of Vietnamese people who called themselves The Children of The Dragon and The Fairy.
