About

Transform your Garmin into a professional running dashboard with WbalPro, a data field designed for serious athletes. Go beyond basic metrics with a unique, graphical interface that helps you manage your effort perfectly in training and on race day. More details here!: https://wbalpromanual.netlify.app/ now with an AI BOT!! --- KEY FEATURES --- Graphical W'bal Battery: Visually track your anaerobic energy with a unique, real-time W'bal "battery." The 10-segment display drains and changes color from green to red as you push your limits, giving you an intuitive sense of how much you have left in the tank. Charge/Discharge Gauge: Instantly see if you're working above your limit or recovering. A bar below the battery fills to the left in red when you're spending energy (Power bigger than CP) and to the right in green when you're recharging. 8+ Data Fields: Get all your critical data on one screen. The adaptive layout displays up to 8 metrics, including Power, GAP, HR, VO2Max, Performance Factor (PF5), and color-coded rolling power averages (3m, 10m, 20m). Advanced FIT File Recording: Save all your pro-level data, including second-by-second W'bal and session power records, directly to your .FIT file for deep analysis in Garmin Connect, Strava, and TrainingPeaks. --- UNDERSTANDING THE CORE METRICS --- Critical Power (CP): Think of CP as your highest sustainable power output—your "forever pace." Running above it is unsustainable, while running below it allows for recovery. WbalPro uses your personal CP to give all your data real-time context. W'bal (W Prime): W'bal is your "anaerobic battery." It's a fixed amount of energy you have for efforts above your CP. Sprints and hard climbs drain it. When it's empty, you're exhausted. Our graphical battery makes managing this crucial resource intuitive for the first time. Configure your Weight, CP, and W' Prime in the settings for maximum accuracy. Train smarter, race faster.

What's new

2.1 — July 3rd 2026 - Smarter Grade Detection: Slope averaging now adapts to your pace — fast response at running speed for real-time hill feedback, more averaging at walking speed where GPS noise matters most. 2.0 — July 2026 Power Accuracy Overhaul - Zero-power drops eliminated: power no longer collapses to 0W during brief GPS signal loss. The field now holds the last valid speed reading instead of defaulting to zero. - Eliminated 400W+ spikes caused by GPS elevation artifacts. Slope is now clamped to a realistic ±25% maximum, and stale slope values decay gracefully when you slow down or stop. - More stable power response: tightened the ramp limiter to 60 W/s for steady-state running, preventing single bad GPS samples from producing sudden jumps. - Fixed aerodynamic power formula to correctly compute drag force × runner velocity when wind is set manually. - Improved elevation tracking: widened the per-sample altitude filter to 1.5m, reducing lag on real hills and phantom slopes after terrain transitions. 1.9 May 17th 2026 - Enhancing altitude calculation for better slope calculation 1.8 May 10th 2026 - Minor performance issues 1.7 April 6th 2026 - Smart "GPS Soaking" Indicator: Power output is now displayed in orange while the watch locks onto high-accuracy GPS. It turns black only when the signal is 100% reliable to start your activity. - Instant Sprint Response: Overhauled the internal ramp limits to remove artificial power capping, allowing the data field to instantly capture explosive sprints and sudden attacks. - Refined Power Smoothing: Fine-tuned the Exponential Moving Average (EMA) filter to provide highly stable and readable power numbers on screen without losing any of your true athletic effort. 1.6 April 5th 2026 - High-Precision Telemetry: Upgraded to millisecond-accurate timing, ensuring mathematically flawless W'bal depletion/recovery and smoother power filtering. - Massive Battery Optimization: Re-engineered background processes—including smart temperature polling and reduced I/O storage writing—to dramatically lower CPU load and extend battery life. - Enhanced Skiba Math Engine: Optimized the underlying exponential calculations for Tau recovery, delivering faster and more reliable real-time metrics. - Lag-Free Record Tracking: Improved the P3/P10/P20 all-time power record saving mechanism to run seamlessly without freezing the screen during all-out sprints. - Interactive Web Support: Want to dive deeper into how our W'bal algorithm works? Talk directly to our custom AI bot on the official website! 1.5 - Improved code 1.41 - Native label added 1.4 - Attempt to save Power as Strava field 1.3 - Enhanced slope calculation 1.2 - Adjusted negative values of Wbal + corrected GAP FIT record 1.12 - Corrected stop for PF5 and VO2max 1.11 - Corrected start for PF5 and VO2max
