This app helps divers record underwater ecological restoration work on Garmin Descent dive computers using only the physical buttons. It is designed for teams who remove sea urchins, transplant seaweed, and perform other cleanup or restoration activities. Each dive session can be tagged with a work type (urchin removal, seaweed transplant, other) and a grid ID (e.g. A-1, B-5), and will record depth, water temperature, time and simple work counters. Key features: - Button-only operation under water (no touch required) - Activity types: Urchin removal, seaweed transplant, other activity - Grid-based logging (e.g. A-1, B-5) for survey or work zones - Seaweed mode with unit ID and status (NEW / GOOD / FAIR / POOR / DEAD / LOST) - Urchin mode with simple cumulative counts - Session summary with start/end time and GPS position (when available) Offline-first & data safety: - Descent series watches do NOT have built-in LTE. - All data is stored locally on the watch first and exported as a FIT file into the Garmin ecosystem. - In addition, the app prepares a JSON payload that can be sent to a custom backend server when your watch is connected to your phone via Garmin Connect. - If upload fails (no Bluetooth, airplane mode, no network, server error), the payload is queued in local storage and retried later. Simple pairing: - Each device generates a 6-character pairing code based on its internal ID. - Divers can enter this code on a web or mobile dashboard to link the watch to a user or team account. - No complex login flow is required on the watch itself. Requirements: - Compatible Garmin Descent device (see supported devices on this store page) - A smartphone running Garmin Connect with internet access for server sync - A project- or organization-specific backend that accepts JSON uploads (optional; the app still records FIT data without it) This app does not modify your dive computer safety settings. It only records additional work-related data alongside your normal dive activities.
