About

The app gives intuitive information to get the best start timing in Hydrofoil Sailing Races It features a classic countdown and gives you these information: - distance to start line - if you’re early based on minimum foiling speed - if you’re on time based on high-end foiling speed - if you’re early or late based on your current speed The values are recorded and plotted to allow debriefing in Garmin Connect, you’ll know for each start if you were early or late and the current speed. The activity is recorded to be post processed on Garmin Connect or exported. After the start it records and shows current speed, overall top speed and lap top speed, as well as time of the day and race elapsed time. It’s tested on fenix 3, for similar watches a small refit of the layout is needed, please contact the developer to request compatibility with your device. If you want to collaborate on the layout definition for other devices, I can share the relevant sources. USAGE: - Before the start procedure adjust the countdown value with up/down buttons - Enter menu to set the start-mark positions (be close to the mark to save current gps position) - Enter menu to set MINIMUM foiling speed and HIGH-END foiling speed (IN KNOTS!) - Start the countdown with START button - on top you can read the distance to line in meters - on the bottom is the indication of whether to: - “STOP” x seconds before initiating the foiling, or sail away from the line. If you head to the line, you’ll need to foil at a lower speed than the MINIMUM foiling speed to avoid being early - “BURN” x seconds to get on the line with some margin and allows you to start at HIGH-END speed - “GAIN” x seconds, you’re late compared to the HIGH-END speed - on the right it states whether you’ll be inside or outside the line, based on your CURRENT speed, in seconds. - BLUE if you’re well INSIDE the line, you’re late - GEEN if you’re 2 or 3 seconds INSIDE the line, you’re good and safe - YELLOW if you’re 0 or 1 seconds INSIDE the line, you’re right on the line: you might cross the line earlier - RED if you’re OUTSIDE the line, you’re early, you’ll probably be disqualified if not slowing down A detailed explanation is available at https://seatouch.dev/#/foilstart
