About

'Train to Run' helps to create up to 10 workouts of alternating Walk and Run intervals of varying intensities. For each interval, the user can set the type of the interval (Walk or Run), the length in minutes, and a target 'intensity'. Intensity is defined as the Heart Rate (HR) Zone - a value between 1 and 5. Workouts can be defined in the app's Settings. For example: W5-2,R2-4,W2-3,R2-4,W5-1 In the example, W5-2 means: 'Walk 5 minutes, in HR Zone 2'. Similarly, R2-4 means: 'Run 2 minutes, in HR Zone 4'. Repeating sequences can be represented like this: 2*(R2-5,W2-3) This corresponds to: R2-5,W2-3,R2-5,W2-3 Such repeating sequences can be be mixed with simple sequences, for example: W5-2,2*(R5-5,W3-3),W5-2 More detail about the app: https://avoimasoftware.com/2022/05/29/train-to-run-description/. ----------------- VOICE ALERTS IQSpeech is a free companion app for Android phones. On Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.avoima.iqspeech. Voice alerts can be enabled in Settings, to warn about Hr Zone not being same as target or about interval change. TROUBLE SHOOTING ● In case of problems saving Settings (e.g. the Activation key) on the phone, check your Bluetooth connection, restart the phone, and try again. Otherwise, save Settings with Garmin Express, a PC app: https://www.garmin.com/en-US/software/express/windows/ ● The number and length of schedules that you can create depends on the memory of your watch. You'll get an 'IQ!' error if your watch doesn't have enough memory for the schedules. ----------------- TRIAL PERIOD AND PAYMENT The user can try out 'Train to Run' for two hours. During this time the app is fully functional. After the end of the trial period the app is not usable any more, until the user enters the Activation key in the app's Settings. Payment can be made here: https://avoimasoftware.com/payment-for-train-to-run/ ----------------- BUG REPORTS AND SUGGESTIONS Submit bug reports and suggestions for improvements to [email protected].

What's new

3.1.0.: Added the possibility of starting and pausing the app via the 'Enter' button (in addition to the main menu). Also added the possibility of selecting (in the app's Settings) the sport type (generic, run or walk). This influences how the results appear in Garmin Connect. 3.0.0.: Added the possibility of voice feedback, via IQSpeech, a companion app for Garmin watch apps, running on Android phones. IQSpeech can be downloaded from Google Play (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.avoima.iqspeech) 2.1.1: Error fix: the app crashed on start when a multiplicative Workout schedule had more than about 11 sub-schedules. This is now fixed, so that schedules with e.g. 50 sub-schedules like 50*(W1-2,R5-3,W1-2,R5-3) now don't cause a crash. 2.1.0: Pause possibility added. Modifications in Settings for Workout schedules. 2.0.1: removed Groupings of settings (for Workouts, Vibrations and Colors), as the settings editor in Garmin's Connect Mobile has a bug involving grouped settings items. 2.0.0: many changes: possibility of defining up to 10 workouts, selecting a workout on the watch, display modifications. 1.2.0: added configurable, periodical vibration alert if current HR Zone is different from target HR Zone 1.1.2: fixed an issue with trial period 1.1.1: added a default (example) Run / Walk sequence to Settings 1.1.0: fixed issues with the trial period.
