About

Tamawatchi is a Tamagotchi-style virtual pet that lives right on your Garmin watch. Hatch an egg, raise your little companion, and keep it happy, fed, and healthy - all powered by your real-world activity. The more you move, the better your pet thrives. Adopt one of five pixel-art animals, watch it grow from an egg into a full-grown adult, and discover what it becomes based on how well you care for it. Every visit is a quick, charming check-in: feed it, play a mini-game, clean up, or tuck it in for the night. Key Features: - Five adoptable pets, each with its own art: Cat, Dog, Dragon, Penguin, and Fox. - Name your pet: pick from a set of names when you adopt it, rename it any time, or type a custom name from the Garmin Connect app. - Four life stages: your pet grows from Egg to Baby to Teen to Adult over time. - Expressive moods - it looks happy, sad, sleepy, or sick depending on how it feels, and breathes gently when idle. - Five needs to balance, each with its own icon: Hunger, Happiness, Energy, Health, and Cleanliness. - Feed it - and every animal eats its own favorite food (the cat gets a fish, the dog a bone, the fox berries...), nibbled away one bite at a time. - Play quick mini-games - Play picks one at random from several (catch the ball, a reaction test, a button masher); the better you do, the happier your pet. - Clean up after it - poop piles up over time and must be cleaned before it makes a mess. - Sleep - tuck your pet in for a multi-hour nap, and it even dozes off on its own at night. - Medicine - nurse your pet back to health when it gets sick. - Playful animations for every action: food eaten bite by bite, a refreshing shower, a bouncing ball, drifting Zzz's, and more. - A living day/night world with a sun and clouds by day, a moon and stars by night - your pet sleeps when you sleep. - Aging, evolution, and legacy: how you raise your pet decides the adult form it grows into, and when one pet passes on, the next generation hatches and inherits a trait that helps it live better. - Powered by your activity: your real steps and heart rate feed and energize your pet, so wearing your watch and staying active keeps it thriving. - A live activity panel on the main screen showing your daily steps, heart rate, and your pet's happiness at a glance. - Glance support for an at-a-glance status check from your widget carousel. - A watch-face complication so your pet's wellbeing can show on your favorite watch face. - Simple, touch- and button-friendly controls, plus a settings menu to toggle vibration, rename or change your pet, or start over. - Your pet's state is saved between sessions and keeps living while the app is closed - check back later and see how it's doing. How to Play: - Open the app, choose your pet, and give it a name, then press START to hatch the egg. - The main screen shows your pet standing above a live panel with your daily steps, heart rate, and your pet's happiness. - Care for your pet: press the START button to open the Care menu. Choose an action - Feed, Play, Clean, Sleep, Medicine, or Discipline - and it happens right away. Play launches a random mini-game. - Check the stats: tap the screen (or press the UP/DOWN buttons) to flip to the Stats page. It shows all five needs, your pet's age, and its generation. Tap again to go back to your pet. - Keep the needs up. When Hunger, Happiness, Energy, Health, or Cleanliness runs low, your pet gets unhappy - feed it, play with it, clean up after it, and let it sleep. Move around during the day, too: your steps and heart rate help feed and energize it. - Let it rest. Choose Sleep for a multi-hour nap (it also falls asleep on its own at night). Press START to wake it early. - Settings: long-press the MENU button to toggle vibration, change your pet, or reset the game. Press BACK to exit. - Stick with it. Raise your pet well and it grows into a special adult form; over time you can pass a helpful trait down to the next generation.

What's new

1.4.0: Added Visual overhaul of the main scene and mini-games: Day and night skies (and the ground) now render as smooth vertical gradients, with a warm glow around the sun and a soft halo around the moon. More varied starfield at night (small, medium, and shiny "+" stars). Clouds cast a subtle drop shadow. Stat meters are rounded with a sheen highlight; panels, help lines, and buttons use rounded "glass" styling with highlighted borders. Mini-games got a gradient backdrop, a glowing reaction circle, and a time-remaining bar that shifts green → yellow → red. Fixed Glance lag — dragging the glance list was very slow because the glance was persisting the pet (21 storage writes) and republishing the complication on every frame. It now refreshes once each time the glance is shown, making scrolling smooth again. (This bug predates 1.4.0.) The crescent moon no longer shows a dark disc punched through its halo — the crescent mask now matches the halo color. Help-screen lines size their boxes to the text, so longer lines like "TAP / UP / DOWN: stats" no longer spill past the box edges. Changed Backgrounds are now cached offscreen (rendered once per day/night flip and blitted per frame) so the new gradients cost nothing during animations and mini-game redraws. Glance-mode code is now scoped with (:glance) annotations, so only the pet model and glance view count against the glance memory limit — this keeps small devices (e.g. Instinct) well within budget as the app grows. Initial Release: - Adopt, name, and raise one of five pixel-art pets (Cat, Dog, Dragon, Penguin, Fox). - Egg-to-adult growth with happy, sad, sleepy, and sick moods. - Full care loop: Feed, Play (random mini-games), Clean, Sleep, and Medicine. - Per-animal foods and animated care actions. - Poop-and-clean-up mechanic and sickness with a cure. - Multi-hour sleep with slower decay, plus automatic sleep at night. - Living day/night world with sun, clouds, moon, and stars. - Aging with care-based adult forms, plus a death legacy that passes an inherited trait to the next generation. - Real activity integration: steps and heart rate feed your pet. - Glance summary and a published watch-face complication. - Persistent state that keeps simulating while the app is closed.
