Hold Main Menu button to access :
RACE COUNTDOWN updated 4.91 ( fix issue where once countdown started sometimes pressing start again did not re-hack countdown )
Select the desired race countdown timer from the list. If you do not wish to drop waypoints at either end of the start line when " Set Start A" is displayed press Back, and when ready to start the countdown/session recording click start - race countdown timer will start with vibrations. If you do drop start line waypoints, start when at one end, then repeat at other end for start B, and start the timer with start gun / flag signal . You will have a timer, and a VMG to get to the closest point of the start line to your current position, when time = 0. Once in race countdown mode, update countdown timer by pressing the start button and it will adjust to neared minute. You can still cycle through the main screens in race countdown mode, but 2 screens will display the timer until time = 0.
LAYLINE PROMPTS
Set your desired Tack / gybe angles here. When you are use waypoint / course navigation and reach the layline angle to the next mark, the watch will tell you to tack / gybe and vibrate. It will also update your Layline angle used for that session, if you mange to record a tighter tack/gybe than the angle entered in the layline settings. This resets back to your entered value at the start of each session.
TACK PROMPTS
Tack prompts tell you when the watch has detected a tack, and what the approximate angle you have turned through from 15 seconds before the tack, to 15 seconds after the tack/gybe. Turn off if you do not want these prompts, or set the minimum speed needed to trigger a tack or gybe ( this is to stop tacks being recorded if you wipeout, or you are running fast over a yacht deck. Set higher if you are getting false recordings.
MAX SPEED VIBRATE - Not for low memory watches
Set a threshold minimum speed to activate, and every time you set a new MAX speed above this threshold, the watch will vibrate.
SET SPORT
Changes the name of the sport when you open the Garmin Connect Activity, and also sets a default minimum speed for the Tack alert.
POLAR LOG - high memory watches
Records an array of headings and your maximum speed logged for every heading recorded in the session. Follow the instructions on the watch for this. Put your watch next to your phone and open Sail Racer on your watch. Garmin Connect Mobile will prompt your phone to open web page.
NAVIGATION
Enter waypoint either directly on the watch, or enter up to 20 at a time through GARMIN CONNECT MOBILE Sail Racer Settings page using the Google maps/earth format. (Decimal Degrees). Courses can only be created on the watch, and are stored on the watch. Click create new course and cycle through the waypoints clicking start to add each waypoint, then OK when finished.
