About

This watch app allows you to have a glance on estimated time of arrival (ETA) of your preset bus routes of 3 franchised bus companies in Hong Kong, including Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB), Long Win Bus (LWB) and Citybus (CTB). ***Please follow the instructions for initial setup.*** Route and Bus Stop Settings 1. Open ConnectIQ app. Select "My Device", then "My Device Apps". After choosing this app from the list, select "Settings" to reveal setting menu. 2. You can preset 1-8 bus routes and stops in this menu, where route group 1 is compulsory. 3. In order to display ETA of a route on your watch successfully, input of route number, bus company of the route, direction and bus stop sequence are all necessary. Route group (except route group 1) will be ignored if any of the above items is not entered. 4a. Route: Fill in route number (maximum 4 characters, case insensitive). 4b. Bus company: Choose the operator of the route. 4c. Route direction: Choose direction of your route. In general, outbound direction means heading to urban areas/airport. Inbound direction means heading to residential areas. For KMB/LWB circular routes, please choose outbound direction. CTB circular routes may be divided into outbound and inbound routes in its official mobile application. You may regard these routes as ordinary routes when choosing direction. If there is only one direction shown in the CTB application, please choose outbound direction. 4d. Bus stop sequence: Fill in the order of bus stop in the route, for example, route origin is 1 and next stop is 2. You may check the stop sequence of KMB/LWB routes in KMB official mobile application. It is suggested to check stop sequence of CTB routes with KMB mobile application due to the complexity of arrangement of bus stops in CTB routes in open data. How to Use this Watch App 1. Ensure stable internet connection on your mobile phone. 2. Once you open the watch app, information and ETA of route group 1 will be revealed. 3. Interface: The uppermost section shows route number and destination of the first bus. The middle section shows bus stop sequence and its name. The bottom section shows ETA of 3 buses at most. 4. ETA data are updated automatically at 1-minute interval. 5. Press START button: Update ETA data manually. 6. Press UP button/Swipe down: Request ETA of previous route. 7. Press DOWN button/Swipe up: Request ETA of next route. 8. ETA highlights: Yellow indicates ETA less than 10 minutes. Orange indicates ETA less than 3 minutes. When ETA is less than 1 minute, the text will change to "Arriving" in red. When the bus arrives the bus stop, the text will change to "Arrived" in red. 9. If there are any special circumstances (e.g. delay), an asterisk (*) will be marked after the time. 10. If the bus is the final bus of the day, a tilde (~) will be marked after the time. Limitations There are several limitations since the app relies on limited memory on your watch and downloading large amount of open data from the internet is not possible. 1. Unable to show route destination and stop names in the setting menu. 2. Unable to check ETA for other route variations under the same number of KMB routes. 3. Both ETA of departure and arrival may be listed for some termini of CTB circular routes, for example, route 37B. 4. For jointly operated routes, only ETA of your preset bus company will be listed. Disclaimer The information of bus routes and ETA is fetched from DATA.GOV.HK in real time. Although I have endeavoured to ensure the information is presented in a correct manner, the information is for reference merely. I will not be liable for any loss or damage caused directly or indirectly by this watch app.
