BP Ready – Blood Pressure Log with Rest Check
· v1.9.4
About
The problem: Before taking a blood pressure measurement, you should sit quietly for a few minutes. If you measure immediately after climbing stairs, while stressed, or when you are in a hurry, the reading may temporarily be too high. But how do you know when you are actually calm enough?
BP Ready helps you use your Garmin watch to find a suitable calm moment for taking a measurement. To do this, the app monitors your heart rate at the wrist. As your body becomes calmer, your pulse will generally become slower and more stable.
After taking the measurement, you enter your systolic and diastolic values directly on the watch. The average pulse measured during the resting phase is added automatically. You can then view your readings on your smartphone as a table and chart, download them as a CSV file, or transfer them to Garmin Connect using a FIT file.
How it works
1. Get settled and relax
After starting the app, a 90-second countdown begins in the style of a classic movie countdown. Sit down, breathe calmly, and move as little as possible.
2. Monitor your pulse
The watch displays your heartbeat as a moving line. When you are restless, the line fluctuates more; as your pulse becomes calmer, it stabilizes.
3. Recognize the right moment
Once your pulse has remained sufficiently calm and stable for long enough, a large green check mark appears. A short sound and vibration tell you: Now is a suitable moment to take your blood pressure measurement.
If your pulse does not completely settle down, BP Ready does not prevent you from continuing. You can still proceed as long as you are sitting quietly and moving as little as possible.
4. Enter your readings
Measure your blood pressure using a suitable blood pressure monitor and enter the systolic and diastolic values on your Garmin watch. Your average resting pulse is saved automatically.
5. Save and analyze your readings
The last 20 measurements are always immediately available on your watch, with color-coded assessments.
When your watch and smartphone are connected and BP Ready is running, new measurements are automatically transferred to the secure server. From your watch, you can open your personal analysis and export page for all your data on your smartphone.
There you can access:
• a table containing your measurements
• a graphical blood pressure history
• a calendar overview
• a CSV download, for example for use with Excel
• a Garmin FIT download
• a direct link for importing your data into Garmin Connect
The stored data includes the date and time, systolic and diastolic values, and your average pulse.
No user account required
Your Garmin watch serves as your personal key. You do not need a user account, password, or email address. Your data is associated with your watch key, not with your name, email address, or Garmin account.
Analysis and export are only accessible through a link generated by your watch that remains valid for 15 minutes. Your data is therefore stored anonymously.
BP Ready is purchased once through the Garmin Connect IQ Store. There is no subscription and there are no recurring costs. No additional activation through an external payment provider is required.
The app collects anonymous usage statistics such as installations, app launches, and the start of a resting phase. No continuous heart rate data, GPS data, personal data, or Garmin account information is transmitted.
Important
BP Ready does not measure blood pressure and does not replace a blood pressure monitor. The app is not a medical device and does not provide a diagnosis. It helps you achieve a calm starting condition before taking a measurement and document the readings obtained using an external blood pressure monitor.
