About

One hand takes a whole day to travel around this watch face. Midnight is at the top, noon at the bottom. After a little while, the position of the hand starts to feel familiar. You get a sense of where you are in the day before you’ve read a number. Before the day was divided so by the clock, it was more often divided by what was happening: getting up, eating, working, resting, the light changing across the day, the evening arriving. The clock gave us hours, minutes, then time became something to measure, save, spend and optimize. One Hand is a watch face that shows the larger shape of the day: morning, noon, afternoon, evening. The exact time is still there if you need it, but it doesn’t have to be the first thing you see. You can choose to keep a few hour marks, or have labels, (or leave the exact time and date on display - but that kind of defeats the purpose of the watch face). On touch watches, holding the centre briefly brings up the time and date when you need them. We live in a culture rather fond of optimization. Even rest can be something to improve, track or fit efficiently between other things. One Hand is a small reminder that not every spare minute needs to be optimized, or used to control our lives. An hour can be worth having without much to show for it. Read a little. Stay for a cup of coffee without counting every minute. Let the afternoon be an afternoon. Features: • A few colour options to choose from. • A minimal dial or 2 hour labels. • Optional day-part word, (like morning, noon, afternoon etc.) • Optional time/date displayed. • Words in English or Swedish. A free watch face with the same idea as the app Enough, but it works on its own; the Enough app is a separate download. Website: https://haptic-pulse.com/enough/
