ClockZ
· v1.1
About
ClockZ turns your watch into a kinetic closeup of an analog clock.
Instead of showing a normal centered dial, ClockZ rides the edge of the clock like a camera mounted inside the mechanism. The second hand sweeps through the frame with inertia, overshoot, and rebound. The minute and hour hands pass through as oversized structures, while rim markers keep the full time readable.
Supports 65 compatible Garmin watches in the current build.
ClockZ naturally sleeps and resumes. When the watch enters always-on mode, the face quiets down for lower power display rules. Wake it back up and the motion system resumes.
## Settings
### Theme
Choose one of 20 color themes, from technical dark palettes to brighter neon looks.
### Randomize Theme Display
Cycles through themes while the watchface is active. Turn this off for one fixed look.
### Randomize Theme Sleep
Chooses a fresh theme when the watch enters sleep or low-power mode.
### Show Theme Label
Shows the active theme label on the watchface.
### Motion Timing
Controls the second hand and camera motion.
- Smooth PID: smoother continuous motion.
- Catch Up PID: stronger correction toward the target.
- 5 FPS Punch: tuned for lower frame rate hardware.
- Auto Punch: adapts motion based on detected frame timing.
### Number Font
Choose the number style, or leave it on Theme Font. Options include DIN Ridge, Block Heavy, Copperplate, Impact, Futura, Avenir Condensed, Tech Mono, Bodoni, Marker Felt, and Chalkboard.
### Color Overrides
Override background, ticks, second text, hour text, minute hand, hour hand, and second hand colors. Use Theme to follow the selected palette.
### Watch Part Style
Controls how the large clock parts are drawn.
- Flat: simple solid line style.
- Capsule: rounded capsule geometry.
- Twin Rail: split rail style.
- Beacon: stronger signal marker style.
### Edge Time Markers
Turns the outer rim hour and minute indicators on or off.
### Edge Marker Style
Controls the visual style of the rim time indicators.
- Arc: small circular rim segment.
- Capsule: rounded marker capsule.
- Twin Rail: paired marker shape.
- Beacon: brighter compact marker.
### Edge Marker Numbers
Shows small readable hour and minute numbers near the rim markers. You can enable or disable hour and minute numbers separately, and override their colors.
## Notes
- Smoothness depends on the watch model and available frame budget.
- Auto Punch uses detected frame timing to choose a more appropriate motion feel.
- Always-on behavior depends on device display rules and burn-in protection.
- Theme color settings follow the selected palette unless overridden.
What's new
Version 1.1
- Updated to set default setting which uses your watches best possible frame timing. This was initially built but omitted by mistake, which set to a hard value which resulted in less than ideal animation on some watches. This now will evaluate your watches capabilities and ensure the best possible animation timing for the most pop given the watch hardware on which it is currently running.
Version 1.0
- Kinetic zoomed analog clock concept.
- Inertial second hand with overshoot and rebound.
- Camera-style motion that rides the edge of the clock.
- Oversized hour, minute, second hands, ticks, and numbers.
- Rim hour and minute indicators for full-time readability.
- Optional rim marker numbers for hour and minute context.
- 20 built-in color themes.
- Optional random theme behavior while active or on sleep.
- Multiple number font styles.
- Custom colors for hands, text, ticks, background, and rim indicators.
- Watch part styles: Flat, Capsule, Twin Rail, and Beacon.
