TRY EDGEPOWER PRO: https://tinyurl.com/4j7eyahb This Data Field estimates the power used in order to move your bike against air resistance, rolling resistance, accelerations and hills. It's designed to work with road bikes and was created because I was not satisfied of the alternatives available, both concerning power accuracy and battery consumption. I'm sharing it since the results are good and it really helps to pace yourself, especially uphill, try it! The application displays the average 3s power, particular attention was taken into obtaining good data smoothing to take care of outliers and problems regarding grade estimation, all to maximize accuracy. The calculated data has been shown to be extremely close to Goldencheetah's power estimates. For more information, please refer to the website. No significant battery consumption increase was found from recent tests. The app also allows the calculated power and gradient to be recorded into your device's memory and be displayed on your Connect IQ dashboard once the activity is transferred to your computer/phone. From version 0.1.3 the DataField displays the average power to your Connect IQ dashboard. The average is calculated MANTAINIG all the zeros (like Strava does). Contact form: https://tinyurl.com/yn2k358d WARNING Wolud be ideal to pair a cadence sensor, even if it's not required. Sensors are available on Amazon very cheaply. The Data Field needs GPS in order to obtain altitude data in conjunction with the on board barometric altimeter. If GPS signal is poor a message "No GPS" is displayed, use GPS+GLONASS+GALILEO mode when using this DataField. In order to save battery, the data field calculates and saves power only when an activity is being recorded. 30s of data storage are needed to calculate power accurately. After 30s, the computed power sholud appear. DISCLAIMER This is an ESTIMATE power calculator. Do not expect the computed data to be close in accuracy to the numbers a power meter can output, expecially under extreme accellerations wind gusts and/or rolling terrain. If the application is properly set up and a cadence sensor is being used the computed power can be very close to reality (ca. 5% error on average), especially under stationary conditions. Still, Goldencheetah's estimates are marginally better compared to the rolling estimate this app can achieve, since the data smoothing algorithms can work on a much larger and complete dataset. I consider the estimates Goldencheetah and this Data Field can produce to be way more realistic than Strava's power figures.
