Race time predictor
· v1.0.2
About
Predicts your estimated finish time while you are running the race based on the average speed and ascent / descent so far into the race, and deviation between the race distance and the distance measured by the watch. While you are running you can also keep track of the ascent / descent so far into the race, and sliding time spent on the last kilometer (or mile).
In addition to finish time, it is also calculated how much the time you have spent on the last kilometer (or mile) will impact the finish time if you continue with the same speed all the way to the finish line. This is useful, for example, if you run faster or slower than the average speed towards the end of the race. If you have run slower the last kilometer (or mile) than the average speed so far into the race, a time addition is shown with a plus.
Basic settings include the race name, the race distance (provided by the organizer), and the elevation difference from start to finish. If, for example, start and finish are not at the same place and the finish is at a higher elevation than the start, then this difference is greater than 0.
You can also set the ascent time loss and descent time gain. You run slower uphill and faster downhill compared to on a flat road, so a calculation taking into account the accumulated ascent and descent so far into the race and the elevation difference from start to finish will give a more accurate estimated finish time.
If you previously have run this particular race with the watch and know the distance measured by the watch for the race, you can also set this to increase the accuracy. The watch doesn't always measure the exact race distance provided by the organizer when passing the finish line. For example, the watch could measure your local marathon race to 42.3 km.
