Bullseye
· v2.3.1
About
This is a game designed to help you work on your intuition on bullseyes coordinates. Useful for military pilots and sim players (like Falcon BMS, or DCS).
That's how coordinates are passed in radio transmissions (which could be hijacked) in air military operations. The prebriefed point is chosen as a "bullseye" and location of points of interests (incoming fighter jets, tankers, friendly units) is given as a two numbers (third data would be altitude and fourth would be aspect, but that's beyond the scope) related to the bullseye - the bearing and a range (from bullseye). Knowing your position in bullseye and target position in bullseye you should be able to pinpoint general location of where the coordinates passed via radio are.
The maximum range (radius of circle on "map" is 100 units (nautical miles))
"Classic" mode:
-First step - you see your coordinates (you can take your time here, because you should be well aware of your position)
-Second step - you are given target coordinates, now calculate in your mind the bearing and range from your position to target (this should happen quickly)
-Third step - check with exact solution - you see a map with both locations presented.
Its up to you if your accuracy is good enough or not.
"Quadrant" mode:
-First step - you see your coordinates and bearing
-Second step - you are given target coordinates, now you have to decide if target is in your front(forward)/left(port)/right(star)/back(aft) quarter. Use appropriate button to answer.
-Third step - check with exact solution - you see a map with both locations presented. Additionally you have your bearing and quarters presented.
Quadrant mode data is gathered in scoreboard.
"Quadrant weapons" mode:
Same as above but with additional step, where you also have to estimate your distance to target and decide with which weapon to engage. You have four weapons:
-A120C (AMRAAM) range [5, 50]
-A9X (Aim9X Sidewinder) range [2, 5]
-Gun (Vulkan cannon) range [0, 3]
-BFM (Basic Fighter Manouver) - changing course towards the enemy, for contacts beyond range of 50.
Both choices have to be correct (quadrant / weapon) to get point here.
Quadrant weapons mode data is gathered in separate scoreboard.
Settings:
-My position: Plain / Ring (Ring presenting general direction towards the bullseye, same as on the MFD)
-Target position: Random, Often near (This forces the target to appear more often nearby, to make it more challenging - both estimating direction and range)
-Positions nearby: No Zoom / Zoom (If your position and target position is very close, to prevent overlapping the image will zoom in. If you see the cross with bullseye in center, the view captures positions and bullseye and is eventually translated/rescaled. If you see only bullseye icon without the cross, the icon shows general direction of bullseye but its much more far away (beyond range))
