HF Companion: Propagation & Morse
· v1.1.0
About
HF Companion puts a clear HF propagation snapshot and a Morse reference on your compatible Fenix 8 AMOLED watch.
See current solar flux, sunspot number (SSN), planetary K-index, geomagnetic status, signal-to-noise estimate, and day/night conditions for 80–40 m, 30–20 m, 17–15 m, and 12–10 m. Conditions come from the hamqsl solar-terrestrial feed and use both text and colour: UP (blue), OK (orange), and DN (violet) help make status easier to distinguish without relying on colour alone.
Tap the screen or press START/ENTER to refresh. Manual refresh is the default: the app displays the last cached reading on launch and does not poll automatically unless you opt in to a limited on-open refresh in settings.
Swipe or use the page button to open a compact Morse reference for A–Z and 0–9.
Designed to be battery-conscious: no GPS, heart-rate, or other sensors; no animation, background service, or scheduled wake-ups. An optional operator-location label can be entered in Garmin Connect; it is a manual label only, not GPS location.
HF Companion is an informational companion for radio operators. It is not connected to a radio and cannot control or wake one. It needs a phone connection through Garmin Connect to fetch web data; an inReach/LTE connection alone is not sufficient.
Compatible with Fenix 8 and Fenix 8 Pro 47 mm/51 mm AMOLED models (Connect IQ product IDs fenix847mm and fenix8pro47mm). Propagation information is a guide—conditions can change quickly.
