Three arms spiral out from the centre and fill as your day fills. Each one carries its own reading on the arc, so you can see what it is tracking without a legend. Add a fourth if you want one. The arms space themselves evenly whatever you pick.
Point each arm at the goals you actually care about: steps, calories, active minutes, floors, distance, Body Battery, the move bar. Each fills toward the target on your watch, or a target you set yourself. You choose what it shows too, icon or name, value or percent, or just the number.
An arm does not have to be a goal. Any of them can carry a live reading instead. On the health and fitness side: heart rate, resting heart rate, heart rate zone, stress, sleep, sleep score, respiration and blood oxygen. On the training side: recovery time, VO2 max for running or cycling, daily and weekly intensity minutes, and race predictors for 5k, 10k, half and full marathon. Elevation, ascent, descent, notifications and battery are there too.
The weather set is on the same list: temperature, feels-like, the day's high and low, humidity, dew point, precipitation, wind, pressure, UV index, solar intensity, sunrise and sunset. Every one of these can sit on an arm, in an inner gauge, or in the complication under the clock.
The centre of the spiral is a gauge as well. Run it as one ring around the whole circle, or split it into two half-rings with separate readings, colours and targets.
The middle of the dial stays quiet. Digital clock in white, a colour you pick, or tinted to match the theme. Date and AM or PM above it, one complication below. Alarm, notification, do not disturb and Bluetooth cues sit under the time, and you decide which of them are allowed to show up.
Press and hold any reading to open its Garmin glance on your watch.
You do not need your phone to change how it looks. Open the settings on the watch and tap through palette, clock size, cues, fill style, arm width, where the readings sit, the inner gauges and the past-goal effect. All of it is in the Garmin Connect IQ app too.
Eighteen palettes recolour the whole spiral in one tap, from Volt through Ember, Ocean, Aurora and Sunset to Neon, Lava, Miami, Vapor and Arcade. Any single arm or gauge can take its own colour instead.
The always-on display is built for AMOLED and avoids burn-in, keeping a dim echo of the spiral above the time, so it still looks like Vortex at a glance. You choose what stays on screen, which cues persist, how big the clock reads and what colour it takes.
Nothing leaves the watch. Vortex reads your activity and health data on the device to draw the dial and does nothing else with it.
